This Speaker Shows Lyrics Via a Huge Translucent Display

Look at this; a speaker that is capable of showing the lyrics of songs being played. We’ve seen a lot of apps with this feature, but a speaker doing it is completely new from where we’re sitting.

The device is called the COTODAMA lyrics speaker, and it was manufactured by the Hakuhodo Group Company, COTODAMA.

Yes, this is a Japanese product, and it comes with a translucent screen that enables the visualization of lyrics.

Furthermore, the product has since won several awards, which includes the “Best Bootstrap Company Award at 2015 SXSW Interactive Festival’s 7th annual SXSW Accelerator Competition, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry 2015 Innovative Technologies Award and Japan’s 2016 Good Design Award.”

The device has since garnered quite a following in Japan ever since it was released back in 2016. But if you’re thinking o buying one, well, it’s very expensive, which makes us wonder what’s the point of its creation.

How Does This Speaker Work?

Here’s the thing, this speaker is based on the “Lyric Sync Technology” which is capable of generating fonts and motion to match with the music. This system, then, takes advantage of the translucent screen to show lyrics automatically with some cool effects.

With everything in place, this speaker from COTODAMA is a good device for people to express themselves through music. For many years, folks have been singing the wrong words, but with the Lyric speaker, such things could become a thing of the past.

If you’re a fan of Eminem, but for some reason, is unable to understand the words coming out of his mouth, then the Lyric speaker is probably your jam.

It should be noted that the Lyric speaker is powered by SyncPower Corporation (PetitLyrics), Japan’s largest lyrics database. This backend software analyzes any song, the mood, and then quickly provides the words to go on screen.

“The evolution of music technology has been developing so rapidly but what about lyrics? Even though lyrics play a crucial role in music composition, I felt there was an opportunity to develop and enhance lyrics using cutting edge technology. I believe music impacts hugely on people’s mind; it cheers you up when you are down or can get you in the mood for a big night out. Lyrics are one of the key elements that enable music to change emotions. I hope that more people can enjoy the power of lyrics and learn and appreciate more about their favorite songs through the Lyric speaker,” according to Jin Saito, CEO of COTODAMA and Creative Director of Six Inc.

The Internet and a Free App

For the Lyric speaker to work, the creators made sure to add Wi-Fi to the device. Additionally, it works in conjunction with an app that connects to Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play, SoundCloud, YouTube, and other services.

If you’re interested in buying the Lyric speaker, then prepare yourself to spend $4,500.
